Conventions can be really exciting and if there’s one happening that you want to attend, it’s wise to prepare for it like you would a trip. If you are going to be away for an extended period, you’d obviously want to do something about the mail – you might even want to research sites. While this kind of preparation should really go without saying, it’s not the only thing you should be preparing for.

Money is something you should have squared away early on. Most people carry around credit or debit-cards but there is not guarantee that all the booths and vendors you see at the convention will have card readers. In fact, most of them don’t.

It’s important to have at least 100 in cash so that you won’t have to worry about this. Most convention halls will have ATMs, but you could end up paying fees if they are to an unaffiliated bank.

And, sure, while not as big of a case, there is the issue of pick-pocketing which can happen in such a small space with so many people crowding around. A money belt might be in order but probably not necessary in the grand scheme of things.
